Dont you cry my pretty one
now the time for you has come
now that theres nothing left to say
You`ll soon be on your way

Slowly slowly slip away
Your light is fading into grey
and theres nothing I can do
to make you stay

Now Im not the only one
whos gonna miss you when you`ve gone
and every single day
in my memory you`ll stay

Slowly slowly slip away
Your light is fading into grey
and there`s nothing I can do
to make you stay

You were me and I was you
Together a perfect two
and though we have to part
you`re forever in my Heart

Slowly slowly slip away
Your light is fading into grey
and theres nothing I can do
to make you stay

......Guitar Interlude......

Now close your eyes and go to sleep
it won`t be long before we meet
On the other side of life
Where theres  no trouble and no strife

Slowly slowly fade away
Your light is fading into grey
and theres nothing I can do
to make you stay

Slowly slowly fade away
Your light is fading into grey
and theres nothing I can do
to make you stay

Fade Away

Around 20 or so years ago I played a Gig in a Pub in Marsberg. I have no idea now what it was called or what the Publican`s name was. Two things stick in my memory about that night. The first was Frau Braun..a regular Customer.Almost 90 years old and drank straight Jim Beam. She was escorted home drunk by the local youth who made sure she was OK.  The second thing is my conversation with the Publican after the Gig. His wife lay dying with terminal cancer upstairs and the poor Man had no way to help her. His business and his life had to carry on while she lay upstairs ...fading away. This touched me so deeply that I wrote this song for her on that very same night. I sent him a copy on Cassette Tape - I don`t know if she ever heard it.
